Text-to-9-1-1 Is Here
And NICE Has The Solution To Handle It
As one of the first milestones in achieving NG9-1-1 compliance, text-to-9-1-1 is gaining momentum in its availability.
As of May 15, 2014, major US carriers are enabling Text-to-9-1-1 capabilities for any public safety answering point (PSAP) that chooses to opt in. The FCC (the US Federal Communications Commission which regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable), is now working to ensure that by the end of 2014 this extends to all service providers. The FCC would like that all Americans be able to send texts, regardless of their service provider, by the end of 2014. This means that text communications will be captured and logged, just like all telephony calls made to 911 call centers.
Committed to providing innovative solutions to help 911 centers manage the coming wave of Text-to-9-1-1 and other Next Gen communications, NICE has developed a Text-to-9-1-1 logging solution to reliably capture these communications.
The NICE solution not only logs text messages, but also has the ability to synchronize them into an accurate reconstruction of an event along with all other related multimedia communications.
While currently the issue is applicable to US entities only, it will be relevant worldwide moving forward.
Designed to work with NICE Inform, and compatible with the latest NENA i3 standards, the NICE Text-to-9-1-1 solution is an important NG9-1-1 milestone and is an significant step toward richer PSAP communications with the public.
